May peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah, my dear sisters!

Every Muslim woman must possess a certain set of qualities, which makes her stand out among the female society. One of these qualities is modesty.

For me, modesty is one of the most important traits of a Muslim woman. It manifests itself not only in modest and dignified clothing, but also in behavior, speech, look, actions, and attitude towards others. Modesty means taking care of her honor, not showing oneself off, and not trying to attract people’s attention at all costs.

A modest Muslim woman tries to choose clothes that conform to the requirements of her faith and do not draw attention to what should be hidden. However, external modesty alone will not be complete without inner modesty. You can dress modestly, but speak rudely, judge others, or be arrogant. Therefore, it is important for me to take care not only of my appearance, but also of the state of heart. Modesty is a state of soul. There are women who cover themselves but behave worse than women who don’t.

Modesty is also evident in communication. I try to speak calmly and respectfully, avoid rudeness, gossip, mockery, and idle conversations. It also means respecting boundaries in your relationships with people. At the same time, a modest woman does not have to be silent, timid, or inconspicuous. She can study, work, help society, speak her mind, and defend justice. The key is to do it with dignity, reasonably, and with good intentions.

It is especially important to be mindful of modesty on social media, where it is easy to start comparing yourself to others or seeking the approval of others. Before I post a photo, a video, or my thoughts, I try to think about: will it be helpful, is it in line with my faith, and will Allah be pleased with it?

For me, modesty is not a restriction, but a protection and a manifestation of self-respect. It helps me remember my worth and not measure it by other people’s opinions or praise. Of course, none of us is perfect. We can make mistakes, but it is important to admit our mistakes, correct ourselves, and keep working on ourselves.

True modesty begins with sincere intent and fear of God. It beautifies the character of a Muslim woman, makes her speech nobler and her actions more conscious. Therefore, I ask Allah to help me to maintain modesty not only in front of people, but also in private, to purify my heart and strive to please God.

May Allah instill in every believing woman the qualities with which Allah will be pleased.
