I was 19 years old when I finished high school and at home I always encountered trouble.
Everything started when I met a Muslim boy who was older than me. Through him I met some Muslim women. I was amazed by their behavior and clothing and began to get close to them, to know their religion. I was given as-Sirah al-Nabawiyya about the life of the Prophet Muhammad – salla Alllahu aleyhi wa sallam. I started reading it and I was impressed by the suffering that the Prophet went through and about his life of sacrifice.
The last noble words of the Prophet Muhammad – salla Alllahu aleyhi wa sallam – were describing us, women, like a vase, which it if breaks you stick it but it stays cracked like a woman`s heart. Men must take care of women and women must take care of the girls, because they will be judged for the tears fallen on the cheek of women/girls.
I started my journey in Islam, learning Arabic and reading the Qur’an.
In the Holy Qur’an I found peace of mind. Allah – subhanahu wa taala – says that everything in this life will be rewarded in Jannah and this dunya is a test. This is the belief that helps me get over all the hardships. Islam is the religion that has given women the most rights.
When I converted to Islam, I had a dream: I saw the shadow of a man who enlightened my underground way. Following this path, I reached the tomb of the Prophet Jesus – whom the Orthodox say he died. I saw the angels lifting him up into the heaven as I was reading the Qur’an.
I put on the hijab and married the Muslim boy, even though my parents disagreed, I chose the right path – Islam.
I feel at peace with my prayers and the reading of the Quran.
My name is Eva, but now my nickname is Kiran (a beam of light).
To be continued…
